My 12 week old GSD pup has both ears down. They were both up when I got him. can someone tell me why this is happening all of a sudden? He is out of 2000 BSP 9th place finisher Wotan Vom Barenfang, so I know he has the good Genes. Thanks in advance.
Ron
If they were up once they will come up again. My 10 week old had them up for about a week and now I have one collie ear again. They will come up and down as the dog starts teething as well.
Sounds like a very normal GSD. Ears go up and down until about 6 months. If they are still down after 6 months you might want to tape them. But at this tender age, I wouldn't worry about it.
My 7 mo old had them down and up about 4 times before they stayed up.
When there through teathing they should go up and stay. As previously stated at 6 mo you might start worring but not till then
Ok Yall thank You...but one other problem. My 3 mos old female bites (plays) with his ears and neck behind his ears..I try to correct her but I cant be with them 24/7. She is somewhat dominant and plays rough with him. (Not to worry he hold his own believe me) but I see wet areas when I let them in. CANT seperate them really while I am gone. Having said this..whats the comments now? I STILL believe, like yall, they will be up and down. Thanks in advance
This does present a problem; because sometimes the cartage can become soft do the other puppy biting at them. Yet, I have seen dogs come out of it fine when I thought for certain those ears would not stand normal ever. (after rough play with other dogs) Do you take the chance?
Separation is not a bad idea and one you should consider.
I have always said:
People tend to get the dog they deserve.
I think you deserve correct ears on you GSD…it is more dignified.
