Okay all you Fero critics! I have a very calm dog who is linebred 3/4 on Troll/Timmy so he has plenty of Fero in his pedigree. He also has Tiekerhook dogs for aggression. He is NOT hectic.
The other Fero complaint is they have problems working with different surfaces. I have wood, carpet and tile floors. We do OB , tug, and chase the ball on those floors, sliding and running up and down the stairs no problem.
I know, I know, "It is his house and he is confident there".
So,how would one go about training a dog to do confident bitework on slippery and unfamiliar surfaces?
I don't do personal protection, I just think this Fero stuff is mostly B.S. and that it really depends on the bitch he was bred to.
Guess I got somthin' to prove.

For those that are interested - here is an article I wrote on Fero - http://leerburg.com/fero.htm The article speaks for itself and Erin it is not BS.
This has nothing to do with the female - it has to do with too many dogs that are line bred on Fero haveing too many holes in their temperament.
These holes are often not recognized by sport people, or if they are they can be ignored and trained around. These same holes cannot be trained around for police work. These holes will continue to be passed on in breeding no matter how much training a dog has.
There are good trainers in Germany that are coming to agree with me. You are now seeing adds for breeding males that are FREE OF FERO. I just saw an add where Wifed Luneburg (the owner of Blacky who won the BSP) wrote about a dog that was advertised at stud as being free of Fero.
