O.k I know you guys are probably saying not this stupid question again.I own Rotties I know not to do any strenous exercise until aprox. two years. This is different, maybe?I also have a 10 month old Australian Kelpie that I simply cannot wear out.Would it be really bad to ride my bike or jog with her along the dike? Not concrete,it's gravel. The breed is not known for hip or elbow problems. On the days we herd with her she is O.k,we actualy see her sleep I am talking mostly weekend when she doesn't come to work with me.She is probably 40 pounds soaking wet and just a real little athelete, rock solid, just a real awesome little dog just with tons of energy to burn. She is a good girl, doesn't get into trouble when she has excess energy, however I knew before I got this breed that they would need tons of exercise I just want to be able to meet her energy demands in all fairness to her.It would be different if I owned my own farm....then I could tire her out on sheep everyday..O.k now I'm dreaming...Thanks guys!
I would wait just 2 more months. By 12 months, her growth plates will be closed and then you can do anything you want. I don't see a need to wait til 2 yrs on a Rott either. Yeah, they're slow maturing, but that's emotionally, not physically. Their growth plates are also closed by 12-14 months.
I would say. 1: If the gravel isn't going to hurt her pads, thats O.K. 2. Sure, you can jog her beside the bike for a 100 yards not ten miles. The last sentance is a exageration, But you should get the idea. It depends on the dog. You cadn do it if you dont over do it. Whats over doing it depends on how it effects the car.
