Mike Russell,
Did you think that I meant that I intended to put the two dogs together and just leave them alone.
I have every intention to train, exercise, and play with them every day. EVERY DAY! I will not; however, go out and sleep with a dog, and if you think dogs do not benifit from having other dogs as companions, (not pets)you know less than you think you do. I am sure your five dogs enjoy each other's company.

My male is only let out with the older females, and only supervised, and only for short periods of time. They do, however, sleep IN THE HOUSE....in crates. The dogs' companions are their pack. Me, my wife, and our two kids are the pack, not we are one pack and the dogs are another. Each dog is clear in what their job and position is within our pack. You want to see what dog pack mentality and "companionship" can lead to...go get 3 mature, high drive, hard bitches and let them loose together...ESPECIALLY when one is in heat.
And frankly, I could care less what you think about how much I know, but I do find it funny that when I apply the truth to the situation, the people that have comprehension problems seem to get offended and take jabs.

John, maybe more information would help here. For example, what type of training do you do now with your dog? How much time does he spend alone? How much time do you spend training? Why do you think he needs a companion?
You're right that most of the people you encounter here are OCD about dogs, myself included. But you asked a question, seeking advice. Then you started talking about breeding, coloration, finances for a foundation brood bitch, etc. In fact, you said that you "may not breed for some time", which seems to indicate that it's not a question of "whether", but "when". You really shouldn't be surprised that you got responses focusing on breeding.
Relax. These people are trying to help you.
