I thought I would put the question to myself about what I was doing wrong in training and how I could be a better trainer and help my dog fulfill what he is capable of........
Soooo.....I came up with a few interesting personal faults.... The worst of which was 'double or treble commanding' before applying a correction. I find this a very annoying habit in myself.
I was wondering what all the experienced and not so experienced trainers thought about themselves and there own personal faults when they train their dogs.....
Another fault of mine is not having a clear progressive training plan to work to. I go out, do a bit of attention work, some heeling etc, a bit of tracking and so on all pretty disorganised....
I am sure the best dont do it that way.!!!!
My question is then... 'What do YOU do wrong' and could do better... I cant be the only terrible trainer out there!!!
We all make mistakes, and hopefully learn from them. I keep a training journal on all my dogs. What I did, amount of time spent, dogs progress, things to work on. etc. This works well for me, but you may find something that works best for you. Just remember, you never stop learning.
