I have selected a breeder for my next GSD pup. The Dam and Sire are German imports and they both have impresive 5 generation pedigrees. The sire is SchH III, KKL-1, V. The Dam is SchH III, KKL-II with DNA registration. Also, both have SZ registration numbers and decent HD-ZW numbers of 88 and 87.
Neither dog has their HD rating listed on their pedigree. The breeder does not feel that this is a big issue.
I would like to register the dog with the SV as well as Schutzhund train him. Should I be concerned over the missing HD ratings on the parents pedigrees? Your thoughts please...
I am not sure I follow your problem. In order to even be breed surveyed (KKL1 or 2) they have to have OFA or A-Stamp certifiable hips.
So, as long as the KKL is legit, the fact that the pedigree itself doesn't have the hip rating on it doesn't matter to me. Ask for copies of the OFA certificates.
Here is a good page that descibes what the KKL rating really means, if you are not familiar with it.
