the lines are good for showing. I wouldn't attribute the drives to them, but if I had to pick one thing that would help the drives, it would be that Hoss' sire (Cas' grandsire) is Cello Romerau (known for really good drive and work ethic). But like I said, I wouldn't attribute any "intense drive" to these lines.
Funny it should come up for showlines, I had him to a confirmation class lastnight and they said that they weren't use to seeing the nice big GSD-weren't sure if he met the ACK "standard" . They are use to the American lines which are smaller. They said he could be showable, but everyone there was so "uppidty" the whole my dog is better than your dog, is that normal? I thought that the SCH3 was for Schutzhund? Something now that we are very seriously thinking about getting Lobo into. I don't think the whole showing thing is our cup of tea. By intense drive I mean that he will do ANYTHING for a ball, anything and if he sees one and knows he can go after it he gets completely spun-am I using the wrong term for this behavior? Are there any books you can recommend for Shutzhund? Next week he starts agility.

Originally posted by Lee Hough: there are some dogs floating around named Tiekerhook who were NOT bred by Koos Hassing and there was a big furor over it a year or so ago...it is an innocent mistake on a pet owner's part often, as most European kennel names are not 'protected' by the AKC... Oh yeah, I remember that! I couldn't tell what he was more pissed about, the guy using his kennel name on pups or the other guy who was going around putting on seminars while mis-representing himself as Koos' personal helper!
yes - and I sort of remember the helper thing too...the dog ended up having a Tiekerhook in the 2nd or 3rd generation I think, bred by a BYB, sold through the newspaper. The owners just wanted a neat name and picked it out of the pedigree and used it. Problems arose when the dog seen by someone more knowledgable for some reason and that person thought they had a goldmine because it was a "Tiekerhook" Molly and Koos went back and forth and AKC would not do anything. It was not their policy to protect a foreign kennel name.
Could be this situation is similar - the sire has a known kennel name, but the owners of the dam, who is from an <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> bloodline/kennel are not experienced enough to guide the puppy buyers in the protocals...
