I am by no means a Bellon expert. I did get to see him in Long Island last month! Awesome seminar!!
Bart does not use clickers.. This is not to say he doesn't use rewards, but he specifically said that he does not like clickers for dogs..
But he also said that no person should try to incorporate all of any one person's training style... That each trainer should develop their own style from a mixing of other trainers...
having said that, in a nutshell, what I got from Bart is this. He uses the e-collar more as a motivator than as a punisher... It is actually quite difficult to explain over the net (could do it in person).... but if done correctly, the e-collar would, from a scientific viewpoint, become a R+ not a P+... because the specific stimulation encourages, and raises the likelyhood of the behavior being performed....
it really doesn't make sense at first.. but it works (I look to Bart's personal acheivments as proof of this).
Bart Bellon is a trainer in the ring sports. He was in the US a few weeks ago. I looked him up on the net and found some information about his training.
I am not saying that he does electric and clicker training combined. If I read correctly he uses electric and bite rolls.
My goal would be to learn more about the way he trains. I emailed Helmut Raiser and asked him who he thought was the best with operant traning and electric and he said Bart was the best. For me that was a big compliment from one trainer to another trainer.
