What you need in the way of bark collars can depend on the type of dog, last week I ended up with a big, stray 80 lb hound with no ID at my place (hunting season here-probably someones bear or deer dog) which I ended up keeping for a couple of days until I could find an owner for him. Nice dog but LOUD! I put on a "Pet Safe" bark collar with a fresh battery. It can make my little softie Siberians and Alaskans yip, cease barking and run into their dog houses - it didn't even fizz the hound who kept happily bouncing and bellowing(LOUDLY) oblivious to the beeping bark collar on his neck - shook his head once but other than that he didn't seem bothered at all! Nice dogs them coonhounds but hooking up the bark collar to the 12 volt car batttery is so much bother.....(just kidding!)
The only bark collar I've ever had was 30+ years ago. It was WAY to sensative to outside sound and made a mean, crazy dog even meaner and crazier.
Lynn, Think about it. That was a hound :rolleyes: . It probably had no idea why or where the zapping was comming from.
