This might be a really dumb question, and please forgive me for my ignorance.
I purchase the "Natural Nutrition for Dogs and Cats" book, and it states that you have to feed your pet raw meat at room temperature. Does anyone take the meat out from the freezer and put it in the fridge part to defrost overnight and then set it outside for the meat to be at room temperature.
Do you prepare the raw meat with their vitamins the night before and store that in the fridge, and then in the morning split it up to the number of times that you plan on feeding your pet?
No where in the book it mentions how to do this.
I am sure that most people would buy meat in large quantities, instead of going to the store to buy the meat to reduce the time the meat has to be outside of the fridge, so it would get to room temperature
Mimi,
this is what I do: Buy my meats bulk, portion them up and freeze them. Every few days take out whatever diet selection chosen and put in plastic tubs in the meat drawer to thaw. Before feeding, meat is put in some warm water to take the chill off. For ground meats, organ meats ect, will leave in bowl, floating in the warm water.
I also make 'veggie cubes'. Pulp the veggie assortment in a blender and pour into a couple of ice cube trays. Once frozen I will 'pop' them out in a ziploc and also thaw a few cubes a time.
I add the supplements during the meal preparation.
