Please remember that what was shown on this documentary that will be airing for the next 7 Mondays is not indicative of the entire program. This episode followed only one group of brand new handlers for the first portion of their training (patrol work). The MWDs they use are training aids and most will be nothing else but training aids for brand new students. Lackland AFB produces hundreds of field shippable MWDs yearly and they meet minimum standards due to time. The field takes these minimum standard MWDs and turns them into highly training military working dogs. The same is for the students as hundreds of new DOD handlers graduate yearly. The instructors that were featured on this first episode are actually 2 of the best down here accompanied by many more high quality instructors. You are getting merely a taste throughout this K9 Boot Camp series and not the complete picture.
