I read the ealier question about pedigrees and it made me pull out the paperwork to look at Gypsy's. She is a good pet, nothing fancy in her blood. The sire is a big american shepherd and the dam is of german decent. I got to digging around in the pedigree database and all but two of the germany based ancestors are listed.
It made me realize that I don't have a clue as to what I am looking at. The pedigree list is a five generation that I obtained online through AKC. Some of the dogs are listed in black ink, some in blue and three of them are in red. Two of the dogs listed in red (a great x3 and a great x4) are the only dogs that are from Germany that are not listed in the database. What do the colors mean and is the red bad?
Please someone educate me and tell me what I am looking at besides a bunch of names.
I have no intention of breeding, she's just a baby and will be spayed at he first of the year. this is all new to me. I am just curious and want to learn.
