If anyone is interested in some nitty gritty aspects of behavioral science and training, it might be cool to start such a thread here. We sort of ventured off into this arena in another thread "Recommended Books: Culture Clash", so maybe we can continue that line of thought here.
Behavioral Science includes Operant Conditioning, Respondent/Classical conditioning and some may include learning theory. It's BF Skinner stuff, and it's an area in which I study and work.
I've joined this forum because I now have the time (my formal schooling is now over), and I'm interested in some of the practical training methods used when dealing with the super-athlete dogs found in this sport/protection area. I've already learned some interesting stuff in just the few days that I've been in this forum on other threads (I just read the "targeting" thread and quite enjoyed it).
If you have any curiousity at all about the principles of behavior...the underpinnings upon which many training methods are based...I might have something to offer. If you want to rant against this or that (as it relates to behaviorism)...that's cool too! Otherwise, I still stand to learn a lot from this forum!
