I would also "puppy test" each puppy for it's own merit, make sure you have the health checked by your own vet and the lines you are getting a puppy from produce a healthy pup.
If you are looking for a GSD for a companion, you pick it for what kind of companion you want not what somebody else has - there are no 2 a like.
