What is the feeling and rationale about what and how much to do - work/train/exercise a young bitch who is bred? A very high drive bitch who thrives on work, and is extremely physically fit. How long can/should you let them do protection work and what exercises to be avoided? Obedience and tracking - no biggie, I just won't do jumps. She was ready to do her 2 and almost 3 when she came into heat early, and she does not want to stay home - this is her first litter, and only 2 weeks since last breeding and she is bouncing off the walls...

I worked mine until they were about 5 wks along. Obviously no jumps, toward the end no send outs since they were getting slower anyway, lol. I think as long as they are doing well and don't do TOO much you'll be fine. I still did the tracking. Protection just h&b, easy stuff, no long courage tests, etc. Sometimes they get a little odd during their pregnancy just by way of moods. You'll know when it's time to stop if you just watch your dog. Don't let her get too tired out.
I did the same... She did a breif amount of protection at about 35 days along, and that was it.
I worked on little detail stuff that you tend to let go while she was fat and slow. Like holding the dumbell and NOT starting to open her mouth as my hands would move. After the fifth week I did not take her with me to the club anymore. She is too aggressive when people (not dogs, people) pass the car and I didn't want her slamming around like that.
I think it is better to keep them active throughout, but to make sure they don't get overactive. Towards the end of her pregnancy I was walking ahead of her, with the flexi extended and her pacing behind LMAO... this is the same bitch we so lovingly call turbo. She is FAST.
Her babies are almost three weeks old today, and we did some retreives early... all that detail work paid off... they were beautiful! (plus, I think after playing milkmaid for the last two and a half weeks she was glad to see the dumbell)
I don't think this dog can be tired out Yes, this is exactly what I would think - common sense stuff...I don't want to lose anything if she is not pregnant, but don't want to overdo it it either...she was ready to trial for the 2 and the 3 in Sept and October but came in heat early - mother nature messed up my schedule big time! at least we got in the koering first!
