shon mao Webboard User Reg: 02-17-2003 Posts: 39 Loc: Offline	Is it a good idea to give vitamin supplements to our dogs? What about those human vitamins, How different are they from dog vitamins? I searched online on the topic, it seems people have completely opposite opinions on this.

They're essential-meaning the body doesn't make them; so they must be obtained from either the diet or from supplements. Those people who are against vitamins probably say that because they believe anything over the counter is a drug. Unless you know the nuts & bolts of raw diets(which I'm still experimenting with), it's impossible for a dog to get everything it needs from just dry kibble. Even with a raw diet, as many ways as there are to throw one together, I think it's a good idea to supplement vitamins for the sake of some that may be missing. Someone else may know the ones that benefit dogs the most, but I believe Vit C helps build colagen in the joints for one. I give mine a multi-vitamin(human-grade), to save the time of trying to figure out what he needs, and even creatine for his muscles occassionally.
