Is there any info or articles by Ed about how to train your dog so that they wont be poisoned? Also is there away to train your dog not to take food from others or food that may be thrown over your fence? I have heard of people poisoning hamburger and such and then tossing it over the fence to kill the dog... how can you prevent this? I would like to know the best way to teach my 13 wk old GSD not to eat anyfood unless I give it to him. Any info or ideas? Thanks everyone.
13 weeks is way too young to do this though, although I've never tried, it uses a lot of compulsion and correction, probably not something you'd ever want to try with a pup!!!
To be honest, I wouldn't worry too much about it unless you know you can be consistent 100% of the time. Otherwise it won't do you any good. I also don't know anything about the area you live in, but for the average dog/owner, there isn't really a need for it.
OK I will wait until he is older to train for that... and I know that most people need not worry about it... but you never know, and if something ever happened to him and I could have done something to prevent it...but thank you for the info. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
