I have a question that maybe some of you can help me with. After I purchased my puppy from the breeder I had a hard time getting AKC papers (guess too busy) but finally they came. Problem is they never recieved them (lost in mail?) who knows. So my question is can you still register any other way besides having to get more papers from the breeder? Unfortunatly I made a bad choice with the breeder I went though and they refuse to have any contact with me so Im sure they wont send me more papers. Without ACK papers I have no generation history of my dog. Any informatio would help! Thanks
You're question isn't exactly clear - did you recieve the puppy papers from the breeder, fill them out, and send them to the AKC? If so, what part didn't they recieve - and how did you find out that they didn't recieve them? Via phone?
Ok then - if you made a copy of the papers before you sent them in, you've got all the numbers that you need ( litter registration number )
AKC has a method in place where you can ask for replacement papers to re-register the litter in the event of lost paperwork. The information is on the AKC website, just follow the steps that they request.
If you didn't copy those numbers donw before you sent the papers in, *then* the breeder is going to be needed, as you'll need the sire and dam's AKC numbers.
I didnt make a copy of the papers but I do have sire and dams registration numbers. Can I register him with just that? I wasnt sure if I could do that since I thought just anyone could register a dog with false info. You know what I mean? Saying their dog was from a certain litter just because they have the parents numbers, but if thats all I need then Im ok.
I went to AKC site and tried to register online but they want the "puppy number" I guess the litter number, so I guess that means I still need the breeder.
Chastity,
The online registration is probably for "normal" cases only, so I would suggest you call AKC and tell them what you have in the way of info and see if they'll help get the dog registered.
