Chastity,
May I assume that you don't have a pedigree on Kane...or know the name of the sire or dam?
Some names could help determine the lineage....
BTW, I love his coloring!
Off topic...but interesting:
I've been trying to ask Chastity this question for 2 days, but could never get the site to acknowledge I was signed in! I just found out by trial and error, if your firewall does not allow 3rd party cookies, you can't get on this forum!
(Guess uploading XP-SP2 wiped out my settings..)
I dont have a pedigree for Kane I do know the names of the sire and Dam though. Sire is Lajake von Haus Kuhn, and Dam is Corries Carla v Robinwood. I have heard good things about Hause Kuhn but Robinwood is for the birds. Kane is my pride and joy. He does show good drives right now. We work with Trainer Joel Monroe (not sure if anyone has heard of him) Hes building up his prey drive even more. Hes got great drive but were working on getting him to figure out that barking will get the bite!
As far as being a member, I wish I would have joined BEFORE I bought Kane! I mean maybe things happen for a reason. Im new to the whole schutzund thing and he may be the perfect dog to start out with. But it was the breeder who pointed this site out to me for information. Next time I will do alot more homework. And if he doesnt turn out to be a top level Schutzhund dog, Im ok with that since I am learning myself, he will still be my baby. When I am more experienced I can always think about getting another dog, but never to replace my baby, just another addition to the family. I just didnt understand how this woman could say he looked like he had American and West working lines. I didnt know what she seen in him, and was hoping you guys would all shine some light on it.
You know about his coloring... I have really learned to love the dark Shepherds. Being GSD dummy I didnt realize all the different colors they came in at first. When I got Kane he told me he was almost all black and when I seen him I loved him! Again many GSD dummies out there said he didnt even look like German Shepherd. Kanes baby picture
The breeder told me he had nicer looking pups but he would be a good canidate for Schutzhund. Of course I cant imagine my life with any other puppy!

Ever since I stumbled upon this site many years ago, I vowed that once I get my own house (we live in a trailer park right now, and are trying to find a decent piece of land or house), and enough room, I want an adult dog from Leerburg or one of the excellent people that are a part of this site. Since joining the message board, I have found what Ulysee said to be true. The people on this board, while often blunt, know their stuff, and are not out to cheat anyone.
Rest assured that when the time is right, I will be buying a dog from someone here.

Chastity,
Sorry, I didn't realize you had already posted Kane's sire and dam in an earlier thread
The photo link you provided to Kane's sire there sure didn't look like an American line to me!
But as for the dam...if this is the kennel, I'm underwhelmed.
The "foundation" stock listed is pretty old: Adrian Van Noort dob is 1988; Cliff Von Buwelsmeer's pedigree is dated 1990; Rupp vom Haus Barkhoff's pedigree is dated 1992; Franko vom Fehntjer Meer is listed as "No pedigree certificate on file at this time"; Rieke vom Barenfang's pedigree is dated 1994; Quiet Van Noort has no pedigree listed, only a score card with the most recent entry being in 1991; Xinta vom Warnautal's dob was 1991.
I's say it's very doubtful any of these are current studs, and there is no indication on the site as what dogs are being bred today...
The site was updated in Feb and for the litter advertised then there was no further info (no pedigree, no sire or dam info) other than the price of purchase.
Their marketing focus is clearly stated: "No home protected by a Robinwood Farm dog has ever been burglarized and no owner has ever been injured by an intruder or the dog."
I know Im embarassed to admit I got Kane from this man. Like I said I had no clue about what to look for. I didnt do my homework. I bought him and then he refered me to the Leerburg site. He did send me some AKC papers and they got lost (my luck) and will not respond to my contacting him. All I want is for him to contact AKC so I can register him and I cant without him requestion duplicate copies. At least I would have a pedigree of Kane. Oh well, I have learned from my mistakes. I love Kane but warn everyone of this kennel.
I had no clue about what to look for. I didnt do my homework.
Well, you've joined a large club of which I am a card carrying member!
We wanted a gsd and bought one from our daughters college acquintence, who turned out to be a bono fid BYB.
We picked one of the 4 black dogs in a predominately sable litter, only because we liked the personality of the Black sire (the sable dam was just plain scary!). Never even looked at the pedigree until later...
After I did some research (a bit late, wouldn't you say...? ) I discovered the dog was a combo of an american showline with a hardcore german working line! NOT a good breeding choice as these lines were waaayy to diverse!
But we lucked out...as you apparently did. Though our dog is oversized and has a lot of conformational faults, his personality is more along the german working lines and he does well in Sch. And of course we love him to death!
But the next gsd we choose, was the result of a LOT of homework! We just live and learn...
