The difference between VC's 03 post and the 04 post is that the pups grew up.

Ack.....
Your post was comforting, Will, but I made the mistake of going back and re-reading the VanCamp Malinois chronicles. I don't know whether to laugh out loud or start therapy NOW.
I'm determined to see if I can properly care for a working Mal while still working myself. On the other hand, I don't want to sacrifice that dog's well-being in an attempt to prove a point. As I said, he is one of the most even-tempered Malinoids out there (I know him and the kennel very well) but even-tempered Mals are still Mals.
I managed to raise a working border collie that doesn't shred my furniture, so I suppose we will just have to see how it goes....thanks again.
My recent post might have been a bit exaggerated, but having the working bred Mals living free in his home has turned out to be a bad decision on his part.
I almost hurt myslef laughing when I read that comment.
Your not joking, because I'm at work right now and I read the links to his old post and I laughed so hard my 1SG came in like, "what the hell is going on down here". Not to mention, laughing at this post got me busted shaming out of PT. He wanted to know what was so funny that I wasn't with the other instructors PT'ing the little airborne wannabe's. I read it to him and I guess you have to be a dog person to understand, because he just smiled and said, "SSG Duhon your getting short on me". I said Roger that 1SG with a smile back and finished my daily leerburg exploration. I wonder if Ed gives disability/unemployment benifits to people who let Leerburg interfere with work!!
But Top, I was laughing too hard to call cadence.....
Nope, I can't see that working!
But I can see the upcoming TV commercial from those Social Security Disability lawyers:
Slick TV lawyer: Turned down for SSI benefits but you own a Mal? Well, you're obviously entitled to benefits due to being crazy. Call our 1-800 number now!
Brought to you from the law offices of Dewey, Cheatem, and Howe
( sorry, old Three Stooges humor there )

Hey now....I said "open-minded" GSD owners!
Seriously though, I appreciate your 2 cents. I also read your post on another topic about discouraging people from crating dogs for longer than 12 hours a day and I agree. Ideally I would like to have this boy out with me when I am at home. He is currently a kennel dog, but I've been told that he behaves himself when in the house. (The breeder is a friend of mine and very serious about her dogs, so I trust her.) It's just been 7 years since I've had a young dog around- and the VAAAAST majority of Malinoids I know are little Charles Mansons with fur- so at the risk of repeating myself I just want to make sure I'm doing right by him. Thanks again for the input.
