We have a 10 and half year old chow chow pure and she is the nicest dog in every way, except for one thing that drives us nuts. (She loves to go outside during the day, and ) She always woofing and barking at the neighbours , or a pedestrian, or cats she notices.,
She HAS NEVER shown any aggression to other animals, except cats. She hates cats or squirrels.
Other DOGS are never a problem unless she is confined with in a building or car and then goes absolutley ape in trying to attack this dog.
If I take her for a walk, and we are walking along she couldn't care less about any other dogs on the trail. She is just nose to the ground and enjoying her walk. Nothing would faze her, while walking.
Can't keep her inside all the time , because she scratches and goes nuts to go outside. I sometimes wish there was an animal 'Ritalin' product to keep her quiet.
She's not bored, she is fully attentive as she 'guards our home' from murderers and rapists., but in reality the intruders are people meant to be in the neighborhood, including meter readers.
She never goes to the bathroom out front, so therefore she barks to come in and then wants to go out back, so out she goes, two minutes later barks to come and then wants to go back outfront again. Luckily most neighbours haven't fully complained yet, but being new here don't want to jepardize that scenario.
You would think a ten.5 year old dog ( mid 70's in human years) would just want to sleep all day, but she only sleeps from 10 pm to 8 am.
I was thinking of a muzzle., would that keep her quiet?
