My dog has a hedgehog that grunts... it has not made his bite chewey.. That is more of a training and nerve issue. I don't let him have it all the time, but when he was going through the chew-anything-on-the-floor phase I did allow him to have "dog" toys.
This dog is training in schutzhund and dabbling in Personal protection. He took his first "bedroom" and car bites this weekend. In a strange house with hardwood floors. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
The dogs get chewy on these toys because it's fun to make them squeek, grunt, etc. I can't give any of those toys to my terriers because they want to kill and destroy anything that makes a noise. They've never had a "noisy" toy that lasted more that 30-40 seconds so I just don't buy them. They also destroy any hairy(plush) toys in short order.
