yo darrel,i'll assume you're speaking of "kalle welzbachtal",i'm not sure why people don't like the "coated"dogs..i like it.there was a lady at the nationals with a"coated"show-line female..man,this girl was a beauty!i guess if someone can point to obvious shortcommings associated with the "coated" dogs, then they might not be a viable addition to a breeding program, but as for the dog himself,i like him.there's a "coated" bitch(troll melinda
daughter)in the area, and in my opinon she's super in every respect.the ped on the "kalle" dog goes to uran wildsteigerland on the bottom i think, but this dog has posted nice scores so far.you've bred some nice litters...if you got a "coated" dog, that was doing everything you wanted and showed the drives, trainability, color and conformation that you breed for...would you breed it?
The only thing about coated dogs is that the long coat doesn't offer a lot of protection from the elements. This was more of an issue in years past, but should be considered by those working their dogs in SAR, Herding, LE and Military applications. Working shifts in cold and/or wet environments with a coat that takes a great deal of time to dry out is not always practical.
