I dont mean to sound slow but i keep hearing about bloodline. I think i know what you mean by bloodline. But could some one please tell me how to obtaine a bloodline. I have the pedigree on my 15m old gsd. can i check the bloodline from there. if so please give advise thanks..

Bloodline refers to the ancestors of you dog. More specifically it refers to the common traits of your past breeders. For example: someone might say you have a working bloodline (which refers too certain kennels and goals of those breeders/kennels) or someone could say you have a show bloodline (again, referring to those kennels and those breeders selecting different traits then working lines, ergo producing a different dog). Some people look at it by region: i.e. west German, east German, cech, Belgian..etc, ergo, they say I have East German bloodlines. Others might be more specific referring to a line breeding on there dog. For example Dog “X” has a bloodline that is 3-3 on Mink vom Haus Wittfeld, and 5-5 on Greif zum Lahntal. For you to check you bloodline you need to research your dog’s ancestors and figure out where they come from? What kennels your dog is from? Is there any line breeding on your dog? Once you can get a feel for your pedigree then you can make an informed decision as to the bloodline of you dog.

"Bloodline" is simply a term used in the "dog world" as info from the pedigree. This includes your dog's dam/sire and the ancestors typically 5 generations back that others may ask you just to get an idea of the dogs "bloodlines".

There are several avenues to find this out.

You can go to http://www.pedigreedatabase.com and look it up or give us a few names maybe starting with your dogs dam/sire (mom/dad)

Ok thanks Lorenzo Williams for the info. here is some on my pup he is 15m old gsd, he is from the weiss blau keenel. this kennel is listed on pedigreedatabase web site. shows only 2. he is from a line breed he is from the D litter of safan von weiss blau and leann von weiss blau. the pedigree i have on mine states that his grandparents are german imports. safran parents or sire gustaf von weiss blau dam fratzie von weiss blau maybe this will help thank you for any help you can give

From what i can tell my pup has a East German bloodline, Hope this is correct. If any body can help from the info. posted above i would thank you in advance.

No reason i just weren't sure. I new they where from Alb. But just didnt know how the bloodline thing worked thank you for the help on understanding this Thanks again
