Yes Vince...I believe that there is. I seem to recall Mr. Vancamp mentioning this once before. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
Thanks for the advice once again. I hope I can try this today if the weather allows us to.
Sorry but maybe I didn't put it correct on paper, but I don't think my original helper is bad because we got it mostly fixed at home and then we went abroad with also a perfect helper and to my knowledge it got even better.
Somethimes the cause are very little details that make great difference. Also somethimes a young dog goes through different stages and goes over with time.
Back on the courage test, we tryed with a different helper and he running backward (kind of like persuit but a far bigger distance between dog and helper) and again going at full speed then near helper braking enormously and jumping to bite with a nice grip (she got rewarded right away) And I personnaly don't see any difference when helper walk backward, stands still or walk forward. We never tryed helper moving sideways though.
Hello again. The DDR lines tend to be a little to sometimes overally sharp. Again you most likley have a nice dog. The backing-up work is something used to train a dog to be a faster, and must be used alot before seeing results. But the fact is either your dog is a flyer or not, it is something that comes from within. I am glad that you are having more sucess with the protection work.
Here again a little UPDATE on the issue for those interested !
We are doing lot of bungee now where the helper comes and agitate the dog and then let the dag win where I run a couple of circles and then let the dog out. As I mentioned the full grip issue has been resolved, the problem still is the dog braking during courage test.
So on bungee helper passes the dog so dog just misses the bite he runs back and then comes back running at the dog where I release the dog and give the command. Doing it this way she didn't brake anymore but affcourse the distance is far less. It seems that you piss her off or make her little frustrated not getting the prey that she keeps the speed.
