I just returned from walking my GSD and i`m just about speechless at what has happened. I`m walking up the road when a woman comes walking out of her driveway with her minituare schnauzer. The second she sees us she picks up her dog and starts screaming ( and i do mean screaming ):"vicious attack dog, vicious attack dog". My dog is no attack dog and certainly not vicious. She then comes running back out of her house with a mop in her hand. Then she tells me that people who own GSDs( who according to her are all killers )should be arrested and never let out again and that she is calling the cops on me for walking a vicious dog in the neighborhood. At this point i`m just pissed. I told her to call the cops that i will wait right here for them and that they will probably arrest her for waving her stupid mop into my and my dogs face and that people like her are the reason for all the misconceptions about these dogs. Throughout all this my dog is in a sit beside me only giving a low growl whenever the mop gets to close to me. Boy what a vicious dog!!! I finally just gave her the finger and walked away. Sorry about the long post. I`m pretty new to this board and was just wondering if other people had similar experiences.
Call the police and tell them the women threatenen you with the mop and do it immediately ( if a significant period of time has passed you blew it ). A threat lies in the perception of being threatened, and you would be well within your legal rights to have called law enforcement at that time. You may consider repeating your walk ( and make sure you carry a cell phone ) and if the person repeats her actions, immediately dial 911 and request the police.
Sounds like your neighbor is mentally ill, if your account of the incident is accurate.
I would have started screaming "Crazy Bitch with a mop!" and made as much of a scene as she did. Tell her to go ahead and call the cops, you'll wait. Then have your dog roll over on his back for a belly rub and loudly talk to him like a baby "Puppy wuvs his wittle belly wubbies, doesn't he, my sweet little pookie!" Stay there long enough to give other folks the chance to come out and see how much of an ass this woman is. It may humiliate your poor dog, but the look on her face would be priceless!
Proud Mom of Abbey (aka "Moo") - my true soul mate...I miss you terribly and will see you at the bridge...
Well, i just got off the phone with the cops and they said they would send someone to her house right now. I really hope they do something about her, she has got to be nuts. I`m hoping that someone maybe watched from a window and will say something.
Wouldn`t it be hilarious if the cops showed up with a K9 unit and a GSD in the back of the car
Will is right, unfortunately sometimes it best to fight "fire with fire" since sometimes it becomes a my word vs their word. Sometimes taking the first (official) action helps.
Update: Police stopped at my house after checking out my complaint. I`m happy to tell you that a couple of people did come forward and told the police what had happened, so it wasn`t my word against hers. Best part is, she got bitchy with the cops and got a free ride to the police station. Glad this is over ( at least i hope ) but i think i will walk a different route from now on
