I have a seven month old GSD who gets along fine with people and children, but is very agressive towards other dogs. Since I took him in, he has had little contact with other dogs.
When I take him for walks or the groomer, he becomes fiercely agressive to dogs to the point where he immediately snaps at them.
I guess I need some sort of input on socializing the little guy. Help!
Good luck. My first GSD was dog aggressive till the day he died. I tried everything and nothing worked. The e-collar trained him not to bark or growl at other dogs. Great right --wrong all this did was fool other dogs into thinking they could approach him and when they did ouch.
My advice is invest in a muzzle it will save a few bucks in vet bills, embarassment and heartache.

If you can, find a trainer in your area that is familiar with working with dog aggressive dogs and see what he can recommend. My pit bull/chow was dog aggressive, but now she can be turned loose with dozens of other dogs with not so much as a raised hackle. It took 12 weeks of work, but it was so worth it. I can take her for walks and hikes without worrying about off leash dogs approaching us, or having to pass by another leashed dog on a narrow trail. I can take her for car rides without worrying about her going ballistic if she sees another dog in passing. And I don't have to worry about loose dogs coming into the yard when we're outside because now she has perfect dog-to-dog manners.
Trent is right in that some dogs are never to be fully trusted around other dogs, but you should be able to at least control your dog around other dogs. Talk to some trainers and have them evaluate him. See what they think and go from there. If no one things they can turn a dog aggressive puppy into one with manners, then definately invest in a wire basket, frabo, or jafco style muzzle.
