Is my crate too small? I bought a Large Petmate VariKennel(36 x 24 x 26) when I first got my GSD pup. He is almost 7 months and around 70 lbs? It looks a little cramped in there and I am wondering if it is too small for him. He still has some room in there, but lately when I let him out in the morning he has his face pressed up against the gate.
He also now has a red spot on the front of his muzzle just below his nose. I am not sure where this came from, but this mornig there was a little blood on it. I think it might be from a bite I think he got out on the trails by a big black insect (possibly stink bug). I didn't notice it until a few days later and I wonder if sleeping agianst the front has irritated it, or caude it in the first place. It doesn't seem to be causing any pain. He could care less if I touch it.
Any thoughts on crate size? Would prefer not to buy a new one, but can't help feeling sorry for him in there. I do remember the crates in the Leerburg videos seemed like pretty close quarters.
It simply should be large enough to stand, laydown, and turn around. It doesn't need to be roomy, it's his den, not his condo <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
