Does anyone out there know any belgian or french ring decoys on Long Island,NY I heard of someone named waleed maloof and John Browne.My Mal is for personal protection and I need a ring decoy to train with...
John Browne is in Ronkonkoma. His website is brownesport.com. He's got lots of experience in Belgian ring. He trained in Belgium for many years. I've met with him and observed his training. His training techniques for teaching a dog new commands were based heavily on compulsion, at least while I was there observing. He also uses table training, which I know is controversial. Not having any experience with table training, I'm not sure of how he uses it or why, but when I questioned him about it he explained to me, "well, if you have a dog that won't bite, what else are you going to do?". My answer was to get another dog, but he didn't seem to agree with that.
Rich, you should also check out the guys at Long Island K-9. In fact, there is a link on this Leerburg site to these guys. They are basically former police k-9 handlers that train for drug detection and personal protection. They are in Manorville. Their website is lik-9.com
I've seen Waleed work dogs at a seminar and he really knows his stuff. I haven't seen him doing any decoy work, but he's very knowledgable and I'd bet his training is well structured and very thorough.
Not necessarily a ring decoy.Someone to take bites in a bite suit.To maintain his training so he can bite anywhere he can.Its not easy to find people for that on long island.A local schutzhund club refered me to call john browne.I need to practice in different places around my home,a parking lot.Also muzzle training and hidden sleeve..Real scenarios
My comments regarding John Browne were strictly as a trainer. I have not seen him doing any decoy work at all. He may be very well suited (no pun intended) for your purposes.
I went to see him and he's been training for 28 years.Belgian ring is what he favors.
