My GSD is collar smart, in other words, he knows when the e collar goes on he has to behave once it comes off he knows it is "off". Is there a way to retrain him so he doesn`t make the connection? I don`t rely on the e collar i do training sesions with him every day and he does very good but i know that if i need him to be on his best behavior all i have to do is put on that collar. That is not the way it should be, he should obey without the threat of the e collar. He does have a very bad history. I did adopt him when he was a year old. He had been starved, beaten, burned and finally thrown out on a busy highway. When i fist brought him home he had no idea what to do with a toy or even a bone( and i mean a real bone not the rawhide kind).
