From the WCCO website-
St. Paul (WCCO) A veteran St. Paul police officer was shot and killed early Friday morning. Police are continuing a massive manhunt on the eastside of St. Paul for the two suspects.
Sgt. Jerry Vick, 41, was shot multiple times at 2:22 a.m. in the 900 block of Reaney Avenue in St. Paul, near Erick’s Bar. He was taken to Regions Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators said Vick was working undercover, with a second officer, Sgt. Joe Strong, when they came across two people in an alley. That’s when Vick was shot several times by at least one of the suspects.
St. Paul Police Chief John Harrington said Strong returned the gunfire, but it is unknown if either suspect was hit by that gunfire.
I know there are many people on this board that live in and around the St Paul , Minnesota area .
I would like to thank those that showed up on 4-11-05 to honor Gerry and show there support for his fellow officers . We don't get to see that very often .
I would also like to thank those that came forward to help since the moment this incident occurred .
He was a great guy and Police Officer . He will be missed by many .
