Tonight during our training session it became very apparent that I need to get my hands on at least the upper portion of a bite suit.
I have had my dog do plenty of chases lately as I have seen her bite improve, as well as her targeting. Typically she will launch from a few feet back and bite the presented sleeve....and so on. The dog is connecting every time and is hitting the helper very hard.
Tonight, for the first time, she did not target the presented sleeve, instead she launched from a bit further back and went for the opposite arm as well as back. The first chase was targeted at the back. I initially thought it was a poor presentation, though I was at a distance. We tried again, and this time she actually got a bite on the helper's tricep before I was able to call her off. Luckily, the helper could feel what was happening and turned enough for her to slip the bite onto the sleeve on the other arm. He'll have a pretty little scar to tell his children about though. Needless to say, we stopped the chase downs at that point and moved onto other exercises.
I am wondering if anyone has, or knows of anyone who has an older bite suit (atleast the top portion) they may be willing to sell. I would prefer to purchase a new suit, but funds are limited so I have to explore my options. Any suggestions are appreciated.
Check Ebay as sometimes if your lucky you will find a suit. If you buy new I recommend either Demanet or Roca Sport for bite suits.
When working with the sleeve I might add shorter sends and better sleeve presentation to avoid injury. In our initial training we work on focus and targeting on the sleeve. As the dog gets advanced we work towards center mass targets using the suit and muzzle. However we frequently go back to the sleeve to clean thigs up. Sounds like you have a nice dog.

I have inquired about old department suits locally, and the general response I received was they would be too concerned with the liability of selling a used suit (if someone got hurt because it was used) to let me purchase one........I will check around some more, and call my trainer and see if he knows of any. Thanks

I am having trouble logging onto that site Kevin. It says I need a network logon name and password. I went to bitehard.com, but there is no chat forum link. Any suggestions?
