What are some of the benefits of co-owning a dog from the buyers stand point? I can see where it would be to a breeders advantage, but I am not sure what the other party would get from a co-ownership.
I am currently searching for a breeder to get my next puppy from. I have found one that has a breeding coming up that I am VERY interested in. The breeder asked me if I was interested in co-owning a puppy. It is something that I would consider, but I am having a hard time seeing what exactly I would get out of it, other than paying a slightly lower price for the puppy. If that is the only advantage, then I would much rather pay the full price for my puppy. Of course I haven't sat down with the breeder and discussed everything in detail yet, so maybe I am missing something. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />
Carol,
Some breeder's will sell a bitch puppy/dog at a lower price if the puppy/dog is to be co-owned and a puppy back from a future breeding is planned. That was common in AKC from what I saw.
Ack - I didn't see that Carol was aware of the point that I just made... I need to read more closely.
Carol, some breeder's like a co-ownership for the ability to get a puupy back from a slightly different breeding down the line but still have their lines in it.
