thanks for the advice..the weimar looks to be out (skin condition)..the 1yr old golden is possibilly the choice..he has had private obedience training, but no other law enforcement training..it will be used at our schools that are all designated as firearms & narcotic free-zones..i am on the hook for all training until i can convince my brass that a narc k-9 can be assigned to a school resource officer, instead of primarily in our narc unit...our narc unit is possessive of their k-9 domain and i am treading on their sacared grounds..the schools are all for it because of its immediate deterrent and availability..unlike the narc k-9 that has to be scheduled..a good point was made regarding "legal" prescription meds brought onto campus..these meds need to be declared to the school's office upon bringing onto campus..however, these are not the problem..it the illegal narcs for resale..i will work occasionally with an experienced k-9 handler from our dept., but most training will be on my time..any tips in training would be helpful..i am saving my $$$ to get the video training tapes..
