I was curious if anyone has noticed that in the summer (heat 87-92 degrees) if their dog(s) doesn't seem as interested or intense when doing bitework? Especially if the dog is an outside dog and bitework is done at the end of the day. Do you think excess heat has a negative impact on a dog's intensity level? Any thoughts are appreciated.

My dog will play with me for about 5 minutes playing fetch in the back yard in the heat before he wants to go back inside, get a drink and relax for a while before going back out. He'll stay out with me for 30-45 minutes running around playing fetch in cooler weather. I don't know this for a fact, I'm sure someone else could jump in here, but I know heat wears my dog out 10x quicker than cooler weather.
Think about it! How do you feel running around in the hot weather. I have to make the decision when my GSD is to hot. A really high drive dog will chase a ball or do bite work till it kills him if your not careful.

My dog would play until she passed out if I let her...she has no idea when to stop, so we do a lot of little training sessions instead. And she does't have what I would consider to be incredibly high drive...just medium.
