My mix dog has started to show aggression toward other dogs. First it was only large males (intact or not), but tonight a neighbor's female basset mix, who he's met and been alright with before, ran up to him and he became aggressive. I try to avoid other dogs, walk later at night when fewer people are out and always keep my dog on a 5' leash.
What is the best way to tell other owners that their dog (usually off-leash) should NOT approach mine. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> I try saying "He's not friendly to other animals," but most just wave it off.
I recently re-read Ed's articles about animal-aggressive dogs. My dog listens to the "leave it" command, except when the other dog is right there. We'll keep working on it. Should I get him a muzzel in the meantime? He's very friendly and gentle with people, especially kids.
