How can I train my 3 month old German sheppard to wait until I put the treat in her mouth instead of her snatching it? I always make her sit and when I get it close to her mouth she jumps and snatches it.
clutch it in your fist so she can't get it. let her smell it, but tell her "no" when she tries to snatch it, then "gentle" (or the word of your choice) and when she calms down, let just a tiny bit stick out so she can nibble at it gently. she'll learn that that's the only way to get the treat.
prepare to be patient and to get your fingers nibbled on (yes, it might hurt) until she figures it out, but she will get it pretty quickly.
Thanks alot for the advise on the GSD puppy, is really working(I've had a few bites on my fist though) but now she has started nibblin until I release it.
