Hi, I recently got my 4.5 month old pup and have had him for a week. He is sweet and wishes to please, but doesnt seem to get the whole potty outside thing. I keep him in his crate when I cant supervise him closely and take him out 1x/hour. We have a 'poopy area' and he is getting the idea to go there. He has had several accidents in the house, a few were minutes after I have brought him back inside from trying to go outside.
This morning was annoying because He had pooped earlier, I brought him out to pee and then we played for 15ish minutes. Thinking that he was 'safe', I let him loose in the house. Next thing I smell is poop. He went in the living room. I scolded him and tossed him outside.
Is it too much to expect that his age he would get potty training more quickly than a little pup? He was kenneled before we got him (whelped in the house and kept there for around 3months before being returned to the kennel). He seems to think that everything outside his bed is fair game for potty time.
He is fed 2X/day-6:30 am and 5:30pm.
Any suggestions besides more patience and time??
