Hi,
i just got a new chocolate lab puppy a couple of weeks ago.i read the article about the crate training and it has been working wonderful.Maddie sleeps through the night without any accidents.
When I took her to the vet the other day I mentioned crate training to my veterinarian. She was very upset and accused me of animal abuse.I don`t leave my puppy(13weeks) in there for more than 3hrs,after she went outside I play with her for up to 1 hr before putting her back in it.
So is crate training cruel???Will I mess up my puppies self esteem by putting her in the crate? Now after what that vet said I am having second thoughts.

I would never raise a puppy without a crate. They
are essential. As your pup grows he will seek out
the crate to lay down even with the door open. I
am constantly amazed at some of the things people say
their vet says but this might be the dumbest, ill-informed
opinion yet. Keep doing what your doing and continue
reading this board and learning.
This Vet has her head up her ass. find a new one. It only proves that there are very few vets(I have only met a couple in my life) that are good dog trainers. This one obviously is cluless. Thread closed.
