I've never seen my puppy from Czech/DDR lines asleep. I've only seen her nap once. I was cutting grass on the lawn tractor not to far from the kennel and she was laid out. I stopped the tractor and she woke up. My other two dogs have narcolepsy compaired to her. Is this a CzechGSD charactoristic? Will's bad Czech I have read about is like that. Any one else experiencing the same thing. Kind of creepy
It is creepy, but in a funny sort of way. I go to bed with Fetz staring at me. I wake up to him staring at me. I've never caught him actually asleep, although at least he lays down now during TV time and the such now that he's more mature.
At least I can catch my Czech bitch in the "dying cockroach" position on her back in her crate.........
At night I tell her to "Crate" she goes in, turns around and sits and I give her a milk bone. Then I cover the front with a blanket and she is quite the rest of the night. My alarm goes off at 0530 and I hear thumping around. I went ot check on her a while ago and lifted the blanket and there she was, siting, staring out the crate. My wife has started calling her "The Little Monster"
Years ago I had a Wiemariner(SP?)who did the same thing. I went to sleep with him staring at me, and woke up to those same yellow eyes staring at me. It used to really creep out the wife, but I figured he was so intune with me, he knew I was awake before I did, and would hit his station when I first stirred. I even tried to wake up quietly ( DUH!) so I could catch him sleeping. Never worked!
Yeah the weims are crazy that way...always awake. Mine sleep with me(yes on my bed) and they always seem to know when I move or stirr. Eva use to be like that(czech ddr)but I started playing with her(and I mean for a loooong time) before bed. She now sleeps semi-peacefully but wakes up often during the night to "switch positions"
What bloodlines was your weim?...just curious, we might be onto some weird breed trait here!
I've caught my pups sleeping so many times! Sometimes I am able to creep up behind them, and when I sniff, they jump up!!!
