My 15 week old pup has been on the raw diet since I received him. He typically has good stools, but lately some mucous has been present in them. They also haven't been as firm as I would like them. When looking at Ed's daily diet for adults I noticed that he only gives kelp and alfalfa twice a week. Should pups only get it twice a week also? He currently receives 1/2 teaspoon of both daily.
Twice a week is rule of thumb, if your pup has loose stools or mucous I would cut out ALL supplements until the stool issue is resolved. I don't give supplements EVERY day when I do use them but you can if your dog tolerates them.
Also, your pup is about ready to start teething if he hasn't already. Some puppies get a bit of loose stool or digestive upset at this time. Some pups don't show any signs at all, but some do.
Thanks Cindy. His stools are firming up and I haven't been giving him the veggies or egg. I'll cut back on the alfalfa nd kelp too. No teething yet..but i'll keep an eye out.
