There is a beautiful GSD that has came into our shelter and I am trying to place him.
He is 1 yr old, other info and vet record are on their way to me now. He was brought into the vet's office and the vet contacted the local police department employees and sent him to them. Now the employees' landlord has requested the dog be removed immediatley.
He would be a GREAT working dog because of his strong work drive, but the shelter director is not sure about adopting him to a family for a pet because of his training?
So I need to get in touch with someone involved in GSD and training!
I have contacted a couple local groups in TN and sent out pics of him.
Any where else I should be looking?
He is intact and our shelter spays and neuters -(of course!). Not sure if the shelter director would make an exception if he was taken into a reputable organization for police work or such.
But first we have to find someone interested in him.
He is not aggressive, and knows basic commands.
He would be too much to handle for the average family, but in a working enviroment, he would be a dream.
Because of the ?police training/ownership? that he has, he is not being advertised as adoptable right now and I am afraid he will not have a chance.

I got permission to post this over here, so if you want more information, let me know and I'll give you the lady's contact information.

And one more thing the lady that's trying to place him said was that the "minute you put his leash on he is READY TO GO.
But give him ANY basic command and he re-acts immediately. As we passed the other kennels, if a dog was aggressive towards him, he would act aggressive towards them, but I told him to stop and he did! -immediately and fell back into a perfect heel position."
