Last night there was an excellent essay link posted here (still is: "Required Reading for Pet Owners"). Everyone even considering acquiring a pet should read it.
Also last night Tracy found both his dogs poisoned and had rushed them, one at a time, to the vet. He was waiting for word and he posted his terrible news on the board while he waited.
I hijackked the thread about the excellent essay and said that a member of the forum was going through this awful emergency, which I should not have done. It was the extreme emotion engendered by Tracy's posts and his replies to PMs - I didn't think. The essay didn't deserve to be lost in the shuffle. It was my fault.
Well don't take full responsibility for something several of us did. I couldn't resist replying to a post about my dog, which started the rest of the hijack. I think it's safe to say that a few of us were up too late and didn't have our entire brains with us.

QUOTing Cindy: I agree 100% with Will, this board is popular because we have tried to weed out the usual banter that goes on with many of these discussion forums. Let's focus on useful training, health and breeding information and save the rest for private messages. END
Every day I feel grateful to have found a forum that's useful and serious and not a venue for individual posturing, and a big part of that comes from the moderators' vigilant eyes. So.........now I'm guilty of what I hate most on other discussion boards: Hijacking a thread. (And I found out how easy it is to do in an emotional moment, too.) Well, I certainly won't be guilty again.
We all make mistakes. The moderators were swift in their punishment, and hopefully they don't hold a grudge.
Nope, no grudge!
And playful banter of course has it's place, but usually not in a serious thread.
Same for the alert about Tracy's dog - I think the world of Tracy, but we had a thread going on that serious subject already and spreading the news in different threads just doesn't work too well.
So, let's all get back to the subjects at hand, whatever they may be!!
