I'm pretty sure that my husband brought home the hardest 12 week old puppy I've ever met. She is going to be a pig dog, and has apparently already been started on small pigs. I can't wait to get the Obedience video that I ordered so that I can use it on her.
She decided that she was going to be aggressive over a toy (growled, snapped and lunged) and upon a very severe scruffing didn't even flinch.
She has never lived inside before, has never been in a crate, and is very "doggy". She is getting a pretty severe wake-up call. She has spent most of the last 24 hours in a crate in the house, has a leash attached to her 24x7, and isn't allowed to be with the other dogs.
Do you think that I can turn this pup around to be a good inside dog and also a good hunting dog - or should I throw her out in the kennels with the other hunters (that I wouldn't trust to be around my kids alone for any amount of time)....
I forgot to mention this pup is a Catahoula mix...and she has no idea how to play with toys. Of course, she's been with us for only 24 hours, but I'm used to dogs that at least understand TOYS after a day or so...
Track them down and bay them yes. In Cali wild pig season is all year round, and we have access to lots of property. In fact, my husband helps a friend under a depradation(sp?) permit.
No. None of my hunting dogs were ever house pets. Not to say they cant be trained but geeze why bother? You got a pen to start her in or you going to just let her run with the older dogs ? Dogs on hogs, all day fun. Geeze, and I am yankee too <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
