I have a great Leerburg 6 month old pup that is a air scenting fool. However when I lay baited tracks for him he is just not interested. I have held food back for 36 hours prior to training, but should I go 48 Hours???
Michael - the first thing I would ask if if you taught the dog the meaning of the word "find it" - basically this can be done in your kitchewn or yard. Toss a piece of meat on the grouund and say "find it" so the dog learns that good things are on the ground when it hears "find it"
When you can say "find it" and the dog runs around with his nose on the ground then you know he is starting to get it.
You need to be a little careful that you cover the basic steps and dont get ahead of yourself in training steps.
