I teach my dog (9 month puppy) Sit and Down commands. The dog must do it from the Heel command. The problem is that after I said "Sit" the dog makes one step back and sits. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> I fix dog's position every time but it doesn't help. What the reason of this behaviour? How can I fix the dog position close to my left leg?
This I have seen from soft dogs, I also have seen this from unwilling dogs. I have also seen this from bad handling. I use food and pull the dog a bit more forward than I normaly would. I do this so that if they do move back, they are not out of heel position. if they end up in the correct position, then they get a good reward.
