i have a female white gs that just turned 1yr old in november. the problem is this, i noticed that she was biting her tail. i checked out her tail and she has scabs over her tail. anyone have any insight on this issue? is it something to worry about, i'm figuring it's just due to dry itchy skin ... please if anyone can help,,,,,,,,,thanks
There are a couple of other things that can cause the itching. It could be an allergy to the food, an enviorenmental allergen, or stress. It could be a bad habit. First have the Vet Check out the skin for mites or other enviornmental causes. Bitter apple may help if it is mites or just a bad habit, oil may help if the problem is just a dry skin. It could also be a mild staph infection of the skin in which case the dog may need a topical or systemic antibiotic.

which leads me to the questions........is this the physical manifestation of a "disease" called "Picillo Syndrome"? If not, whatis PS. I heard some Mal guys talking about it. Any Help? Thanks.
