I have a Male Rott around 16wks old.
What is the best was to start his training for Schutzhund? I will be ordering the DVD's . While I am waiting on them to come in. Just would like to know what I can do till I get them.
Thanks for any help.

Take the dog out and socialize the snot out of him.
Take him out around cars, trucks, streets, people, balloons, umbrellas, loud noises, kids, other dogs, cats, vermin, parks, shopping centers, etc.
That doesn't mean that you let the dog get petted or touched by everyone, but you want to take the dog out so he hears, sees, and smells the whole world in a positive way. Take treats with you and use them to help the dog get over stuff that scares him and use them to get his attention when people want to pay attention to him.
A good policy is to stay away from loose dogs, don't allow people to walk up and intimidate/pet/love on your dog.
I will do this. I am not letting anyone love on him. The onlyone that is petting him is me. I was told not to let anyone pet him.
I was looking for some games we can play till I get the DVD's. I play tug and when he has a good full bite and grip I let himm have the toy. Then I let him drop it then we do it one more time. After the third time I just play ball with him. I dont want to ware him out or make it not fun for him.
He loves to bite my pant legs and shoes. This is when I get the tug out.
Is this the right thing to be doing with him?
