SchH seems to be the most professsional, most organized, and most respected of all the sports...as well as most established. I would like to learn more about SchH clubs and I am interested in visiting some SchH trials soon. What advise can you offer for this adventure. If I am going to do this much work, I would like to prove the dog's in some type of adventure...and if I am going to put in the work to do that...I would like for it to be one that is going to be around for a while.

Most established yes... but have you looked into ring sports? ASR for example? Alot of people on this board seem to be pushing ring sports over schutzhund, especially if your goal is a dog capable of real world protection. I'm not a dog sport person myself, I've considered Schutzhund in the past but my ultimate goal is a real world protection dog and this is something schutzhund doesn't give you in the end result, so as per my usual disclaimer: "I could be way off here so correct me if i'm wrong", but that's what I've understood from all the various people I've discussed this with
Here are some things to think about. This swinford breed is basically a cross-breed right? I seem to remember they where bull breeds. If I am remembering right, bull breeds in general are really not suited for this kind of work. You can get some that do the work, but it isn't very often. They also seem to stress/go into defense really easily so many times they have problems with OB. I can honestly say that while you might have a dog that will prove me wrong, over all I would stick with a sport that requires less attention to detail, and less control. Like PSA. Don't get me wrong, I am still waiting for the AB people to figure out the sport dog thing. Funny thing is, a lot of them have went to the Mals and the poor breed is stuck in the sh*t**r with the show people. Sad.
Since you are on the fence, I suggest Mondio. We all seem to get along pretty well, like to see each other do well, and are small enough that there are not a lot of strangers. Plus if you do well enough in the sport you can go to the world championships and have your hard work recognized. This is not an option in PSA or ASR.
I have talked to the people in ASR (we have a few here) and they seem to be a good bunch. I don't try to get them to do Mondio because they are members of my "World wide dominance of ringsport revolution" by default, and some by choice.
