I have been having a little trouble with the advantage flea treatment that I purchased online. Both of my dogs have been on this treatmen since they were pups. I was just wondering if anyone else has had problems using flea treatment purchased online.
Thanks
Terry
If you are referring to the treatment not controlling the fleas, than I would advise you to try a different product (ie: Frontline Plus).
Fleas can grow resistant with continual use of one pesticide and rotating different pesticides will break the cycle. Frontline uses fipronil, Advantix uses Imidacloprid and Permethrins and Advantage uses just Imidacloprid (which is probably why it does not work on ticks.
Most products are proclaimed safe for puppies (don't think any pesticide is *safe*, just choosing the lesser of the two evils), do your research and decide.
it does not seem to last very long. I have tried giving a second dose two weeks later and will see if that works. My main concern was wether the product was being watered down some how.

How do you know it's not lasting? Does your dog get fleas after a few weeks? Just curious <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> I luckily haven't had to deal with fleas.
Vet spotted ticks on my golden ret., and I notice that about two weeks after givng the treatment both my golden ret. and my GSD start scratching and biting themselves more.
Terry
I misstated my flea treatment. I am using frontline and have been using ever since I got the dogs. My vet is aware of my using it and asked if I had stoppped when she spotted the ticks. The only change was I bought the treatment on line this time. Sorry about the confusion
Terry
There have been past issues with Frontline being counterfeited and you can probably google it to find a copy of the picture of what the label is SUPPOSED to look like - as the counterfeit ones are slightly different, but I recently posted about failures of Frontline plus in my neck of the woods (SC) probably some resistant strains.
